Frank C. Wesighan
Mr. Wesighan moved to Florida in 1978 and graduated with honors from Florida State University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology. He received his Juris Doctor with honors from the University of Florida in 1982.
He has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1982 and is a 35-year practicing Workers’ Compensation attorney. He previously served the citizens of Orange County and the State of Florida as an Assistant State Attorney in the Orange County State Attorney’s Office prosecuting felony, misdemeanor and child abuse cases. From the beginning of his career with Dean, Ringers, Morgan and Lawton in 1985, he has specialized in the defense of Workers’ Compensation cases and has been Board Certified in Workers’ Compensation by the Florida Bar since 1991. He has also been awarded the highest rating of AV by Martindale Hubbell and was selected as a Super Lawyer in Florida in 2006.
Mr. Wesighan is a founding member and the past president of the Judge William Wieland Workers’ Compensation Inn of Court and serves on the Florida Bar Workers’ Compensation Board Certification Committee. He is a frequent lecturer on the defense of Workers’ Compensation cases including F.S. 112.18 Presumption Cases, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and the Firefighter Cancer Presumption and has served on panels with various Judges of Compensation Claims and for Central Florida PRIMA and Florida PRIMA yearly seminars. He has spoken at the Florida Workers’ Compensation Institute and Workers’ Compensation Convention on many occasions and served on the Attorney Ethics and Professionalism panel with several Judges of Compensation Claims from 2013-2018.
He is the recipient of the Orange County Bar Jake Stone Award for his efforts representing disadvantaged children through the Orange County Legal Aid Guardian ad Litem program and received the Florida Bar Presidents Award for his service as Guardian ad Litem in 2014. He has represented over 100 disadvantaged and abused children since 1985 through the Orange County Bar Guardian ad Litem program and is active in community service events including Coalition for the Homeless, Second Harvest Food Bank, and Give Kids the World.
Mr. Wesighan has represented many governmental clients over the years including Orange County Government, Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Orange County Public Schools, Lake County Public Schools, Florida League of Cities, City of Melbourne, Hernando County and many more.
